Hi, I'm HazelFyrebird, and I'm a wannabe luthier (I feel like I'm standing up at a Builder's Anonymous meeting...) in Virginia. I'm a bit of a lurker, as I've been reading and reading for a while,…Continue

This is not so much of a reintroduction as a rebirth so to speak. I joined Cigar Box Nation many, many years ago when I initially developed an interest in more "primitive" instruments, CBGs, mountain…Continue

welcome CDA ;-)
Hello to all:
I am new to this venue and look forward to learning new things, and sharing new things. I am not a CBG builder per say, I play them and look for CBGs that I can use to record and do gigs with.
I have shared a couple of videos I made using an Arturo Fuente' and a Avo Uvezian cigar box guitars. I almost lost the passion to build and grow in my music until I found this CBG builders and players culture. Now I am back in the saddle again.
Living in the Central Valley of California (mainly agri-business) there are only a couple of excellent CBG builders that I go to, and one is really a mainstay due to his constant builds. The other is semi-retired and only build sporadically.
My wife and I live in a small apartment where this is no place to build my own CBGs, but I have modified some of the cigar box guitars I have purchased like adding a different bridge, updating the tuning machines, and experimenting with different types of strings from electric to acoustic; I am also building up my own sound using effects pedals and have just purchased to amps, a Fender Champion 100 watt, and a Peavey Vypyr 3 100 watt modeling amp. I use a cajon (pronounced cah-hon) with a bass drum pedal.
I am not an expert player, but I hope to use my music to bring a little bit more joy, peace, and escape into the lives of those willing to hear it and embrace it.
Peace!
Welcome Gilles, Sean and Joern.
Hey guys!
My name is Joern (Americans might find it difficult to pronounce, it should sound like "Yern"). I'm a 25-year-old high school teacher from Germany. I recently started building my first cbg together with my dad. It will probably take a while to finish it, for we don't live in the same city, but Rome wasn't built in a day either, right?
I joined the nation to meet fellow cbg-enthusiasts because they seem to be very rare in Germany. So I'm looking forward to meeting y'all!
Welcome Sean! Upstate NY is a nice place to be.
welcome Sean ;-)
Howdy folks! I just recently completed my first cbg and I'm having a hard time putting it down, it's just so much fun to play! I am not a musician but i've had many guitars over the years. I have been a painter, assembler, remodeler, plumber/pipefitter, ditch digger/ landscaper, lumberjack, scrapper, electrician ( among other things) and currently am a cnc programmer/setup/operator/assistant inventor at a small shop/ r&d facility in upstate NY where I grew up. I work 2nd shift and am a nightowl. As a hobby I have been making rustic furniture for the past ten years using the name Jack Fossil ( I put a real fossil in each pc) this cbg thing has got my brain boiling!
Gilles, when you send a message, we get (or at least I get) it in an email but there's no record of it on the site when we visit.
I know I was better at using a screwdriver than using a forum when I started.. I still am. :)
Say hi in here in this scrolling post and we can say hello back.
You can also join groups in here (like sections of interest) and post discussions, questions, pictures of your worktable (honest there's a big discussion over this, very funny at parts) or just ramble on about what blunts your rasp.
Welcome to the group. :)
