We are planning a meeting to talk about starting a Club for building and playing CBGs.  Our initial focus will be on slide 3 or 4 string guitars making some Blues music.  We will meet at:

Southern Piedmont Woodturners shop, Clearwater Artist Studios, 223 Crowell Dr NW, Concord, NC, 28025 on July 30, 2016 from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Let's see what we can do about building CBGs and making some music.

I'm very interested in this, but I won't be able to make it to the meeting tomorrow. Interested to hear what comes of it!

Three CBG builders met at 10:00am Saturday with two more stopping by later.  Three brought CBGs and one brought a handmade amp.  We talked about construction details, basic beginner lessons and general CBG related issues.  The Wood Turner Club was having a big gallery show at the Clearwater Artists Studios today so we had to keep the amps very low.  One of the gallery visitors saw our guitars and wants to join us in the future.  Two others expressed interest prior to our meeting but could not attend today.  We resolved a lot of questions and everyone has a clear direction for stuff to do.  It was a upbeat productive meeting and didn't break up until after 3:00pm.  Unfortunately none of us thought to take photographs.  We plan to meet again but, haven't scheduled the meeting yet.  --- Uncle Fred

Thanks for putting this together for us! It was most enjoyable and very informative. I am looking forward to our next get together!!

Thanks again Fred!!
Please keep me posted on the next meetup. I live in Charlotte and have been building a little over a year. I just completed build #56 this past weekend.

We had Meeting #5 of the Piedmont area of North Carolina Cigar Box Guitar builders and players this morning at Jimmy's Restaurant in Mint Hill, NC, today, Friday, 8/5/16 at 10:00am.  Three attended.

We discussed building projects and details to further understand the science of a stringed musical instrument.  We all have more on our to do list.  New basic skills lessons involved more picking and some slide homework.

The food was excellent and everyone had a good time.  We kept the amp volume low and disturbed no one.

The North Carolina Piedmont CBG Builders and Players will be meeting at Southern Piedmont Woodturners shop, Clearwater Artist Studios, 223 Crowell Dr NW, Concord, NC, 28025 on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:00am.  All of Clearwater studios will be open for the 2nd Saturday Open Studios and Wood Turners Show.  So we may have guests.

Bring your new projects and a guitar to perform your accomplishments.  We plan to discuss more building and playing issues.

We had so much fun that no one remembered to take any photos at yesterday's meeting.

Uncle Fred

You are correct - Fridays meeting was a good one! Hope to see you the 13th.

CBG Meeting #7

Our CBG meeting #6 was again a success.  A total of 5 CBG builders stopped by.  We talked more about CBG construction details and CBG science.  Several went home with new lesson assignments in picking and slide basics.  Again, we had so much fun that no one thought to take photos.

CBG meeting #7 will be Saturday, August 27 at 11 am at Taxco Mexican Grill [Mint Hill location], 7106 Brighton Park Dr., Mint Hill, NC.  Bring your projects.

Also for September, we plan to meet again at Taxco on Sept. 3 and Sept. 24th at 11 am.

Uncle Fred

Six attended the CBG Meeting on 10/3/16 at Taxco Mexican Restaurant, Mint HIll, NC, USA.

We talked about CBG construction details and everyone brought something for Show and Tell.  The beginners got a new lesson on finger picking a shuffle beat.

Cameron is an experienced 6-string player and impressed us all with his Country Delta noodling with a 3-string slide.  He said he would help us with our playing next month.

We remembered to take a photo this time.  From left to right are Bill, Rick, Gary, Imma, Fred and Cameron.  You can tell from the expressions that all are having a good time.

Our next meeting will be Saturday, Sept 24, 2016 at Taxco Mexican Grill [Mint Hill location], 7106 Brighton Park Dr., Mint Hill, NC from 11:00 until about 2:00.  Along with construction details and playing, we will talk about guitar pickup electronics.
