In the book "Snip, Burn, Solder, Shred," he uses x-ray film for a drum head. Seems like it could work for a banjo. He built two square frames, on that fit snugly inside the other, and used them to stretch the film similar to how a needlepoint frame hold the fabric taut.

Hmmm Wade, not sure what kind of plastic they use for X rays but that would look pretty cool if it worked!
