Its getting better everyday Jim its just a matter of patience the  harder the lacker gets the better ,and its a pretty big box,30inch long 7inch wide, and 3inch high, so for me its one of my biggest hollow body's op to now, my exspirience whit chellac i use it on plastermolds for klay  it gets verry hard but on wood it tends to crack after awhile, im not that keen on it, but maybee like AGP# say,s in a combination?or a mix have to test on that on thanks for the Input ! ITS Not a cigar box but you allready done that ,and i allway's wanted a second Dulcimer, whit some more Bass ,think it worked out well, but if i knew before hand that best sound is when the sound board is left Un -painted , co'se it dampens the clear sound of the sound-body i think maybee in time when the Lack hardens the sound will inprove! thanks For your like Jim ! Wow Jim. Thanks for the link and answers to all my questions. The shape of the bowl I got is like your gourd. I think I'll try the no glue idea and just use tacks. The truck hose clamp would slip on the curved rim so that wouldn't work anyways. Loved your tutorial. Thanks!

Hi Jim. I'll be making a tack head banjo much like the Wes Carl fretless. Tony is making one also. We have a large truck hose clamp to grip the skin while mounting. Figured on glue on the pot rim. That's how clay drum makers do it anyways. Just wondering how you did the stretch. Did you use any clamp or just the tacks? Did you use glue? Thanks...
