Good article on pickup simulation from AMZ-FX, written by guitar electronics guru Jack Orman. Basically you can use any pickup, simple enough right? He even makes reference to CBG’S & 3 pole CBG…Continue

Hello everybody!Thought I'd drop these nuggets for anyone looking to wire (3) P90s into their guitars.First, the middle pickup must be reverse-wound, meaning you would wind the pickup clockwise. The…Continue

Guys, after assembling yet another 3 stringer with one pick up, one volume pot, and one tone pot, something is amiss. Have never had this issue before. Static noise is heard when the guitar is…Continue

The tin won't be an issue for the cap. The usual cap for a HB is the .022uf and .047uf for single coils, but you can use whatever you want. The higher the value the cap - the more treble gets bypassed to ground. So a.047 cap would be darker sounding than an .022 cap, it's a matter of personal taste. You can use anything from .001 to .1 or go super bright tone with just a volume pot without the tone pot & cap like EVH.
If you need any help their are diagrams in this forum or you can check out Seymour Duncan's website for wiring schematics.
Just make sure none of the positive wires/terminals touch the body which will be all ground in this case.
Is the HB a 2 wire or 4 wire pickup? 4 wire pup could get a coil tap for a little more options. Using a .022uf cap on the tone pot?
I came across this and think that I may be able to put something together

I used a Radio Shack piezo and left it in it's plastic case to try out on the under side of the LPG build that I did. The piezo only touches the edge lip on the inside of the plastic case.
The good: It works and unwanted noise is very minimal.
The bad: While unwanted vibrations are block, so are the wanted vibrations. Very little sound comes through.
So bottoming out the piezo in a plastic/metal cap, or putting it on a bed of hot glue, or applying with a layer/layers of double sided tape or applied directly to the box remain the best ways to do piezo's.
So I see a lot of people encasing their Piezo Pickups in hot glue, bottle caps, foam tapes, etc... Does anyone have a sound sample of one straight out of the package (leaving the disc in the housing)? I know it's originally made to be a buzzer. Is it the vibration of the crystals against the plastic housing that gives it a different sound, and why folks de-case them?
i'm not sure if this would do what I want.
what I am looking for is a self contained record/playback module that I could build into a guitar to record whenever I play. I hate it when I play something I like and 5 minutes later cant recreate it and its gone forever
You mean something like this Darryl?

i'm wondering if it is possible to use Arduino and a MP3 recorder module to record what you are playing to an SD card....this would be awesome to have that built into a guitar
