Welcome!

This is a Group for anyone living in the great state of California, who builds, plays, or is just a fan of Cigar Box Guitars, and similar Handmade instruments. If you don't want to say exactly where you live, just say Northern, Southern, etc. I want to be abreast of any major gatherings...this summer is out, for me, but maybe next....

Here is a picture of the Ukes For Schools finished ukulele kit that we are selling at the Strum Shop.  We will have a meeting on October 15th at 12 noon to start assembly of the kits.  Only 10 will be available at $80.  With the new, larger Strum Shop, we expect to start having our CBG meetings monthly.

Ok, we have a CBG workshop setup at the new Strum Shop, 209 Vernon St, Roseville, CA 95678 for 1pm on Saturday, September 10, 2016.  Although not approved, we expect to have a booth again this year at the Rocklin Mini Maker Faire on October 1st, 2016.  If you are interested in attending the Workshop or Maker Faire & show your builds, please let me know.  Players are even more welcome.  Both events are free, even the parking.  It's been a long time since our last Workshop, so there should be a lot of great builds and improved playing or at least playing around.

Matt, PM sent. I'm interested. I live in Rancho Cordova.

Matt- I'm in Carmichael on weekends. I sure could use the workbench  - and any electronics...boxes and tools are always helpful.

I'd get in trouble if I bring home more wood for a while.

Moving out of state and have decided to let go of most of my CBG supply horde. Was wondering if anyone would be interested in taking it off my hands. Here is a list just off the top of my head.

- Maybe 30 cigar boxes.

- Tools (Nothing fancy. Mostly harbor freight goodies)

- A couple junk acoustic guitars

- 2 First Act electric guitars I think one of them is half dismantled.

- Scrap wood.

- Maybe 2 washboards.

- Also got a portable harbor freight work bench never used.

I'm sure there is more than what is listened so if you have any questions just ask. I would like to get rid of it all in one go but will part out if need be.

I'll make another run at local-ish contact. Anyone building cbg's in N. Orange County or hereabouts? I did make contact with Tommy in Riverside, but it seems mighty quiet around these parts. Any takers? I do enjoy talking and sharing ideas and tips with other builders. Also, a couple of local blues festivals/selling opportunities went belly up this year (Irvine Lake, Big Bear Zoo). Any word on smaller, localized venues in So. Cal. this year?

Will,

I would be interested in a CB Gitty uke fretbiard if you happen to have one around that you are willing to sell.

I'm not a builder and just learning to play, but plan on going to the event in Roseville. Maybe I'll bring a guitar to sell (since I've gotten carried away and bought a few), or maybe trade?
