Thanks AGP! I had made several of these in the past before I was a CBN member and before I documented my builds so I wanted to get some of the stuff videoed. The main thing different from a cigar box instrument is the use of a natural skin head. I've had questions from folks who've watched on youtube so I thought something like this would show that it's really not very hard to use these natural materials. One of my early gourd banjos was a gift to a lady who's a docent at the Museum of African Art in Wash. DC because she told me there was a similar one on display there. That made me feel like like I was doing something right in my quest to make an instrument similar to what might have been played on plantations in the US South.

"Well Done Jim", I have really enjoyed your 3 Vids on 'Making a Gourd Banjo', explaining your building methods etc; the finished product sounds great, and is highlighted by the comments of shane wagstaff, which to my mind, says it all !!!
