This level was handed down to me from my father ''Neville'', a bricklayer by trade, it has his initials and name stamped & chiselled into it, but I think it may have originally belonged to his father.
The timber is Queensland Red Cedar, I guesstimate! the age of its life as a level to be approximately 75 to 100 yrs old, it was probably sourced from a demolished house?.
The plumb bob bridge was my contribution, also being a retired brickie, it was very tempting to sand and expose this beautiful timber to its full beauty, but at the risk of spoiling the "Patina" and age of this tool, I opted for giving it a bit of a wash with soapy water to remove some of the ''crud'', and applied a coat of Gilly's Timber Wax to enhance a little of the colour.
