You could activate the lights with the strings but moving with the slide is brain rattler. I built a few circuits I want to turn a blinking circuit into a tremolo for lm386 amp I have a danelectro pedal gutted for one . I cleaned 2 radio shacks out of 386 amps and 555 timers.

Yep RTZ, the possibilities are endless.  I was thinking you could put a strip of LEDs down the center of the neck, wire the strings into the circuit and somehow complete the circuit with a metal slide so that the LEDs would follow your playing.  That would be cool on a steampunk or Star Wars kind of build.
