I found a reference to TuxGuitar tab software here on the forum. I went over to their web site and noticed than postings stopped mid-2012. I also noticed that there is no way to post on the "Help" forum. Is this site dead or inactive? Is the software still worth trying? I saw that it only went down to four strings in the tab display, but a three-string tab from another software pack could be imported and used.

Any suggestions for tab software that does not have a steep learning curve?

Thanks

If I could download the software I would willing to give feedback but the password I was sent by e-mail is not being accepted by the site.

Ok !!

Maybe it's not so clear :

insert password here and open the protected post

Thanks

I'm sorry for not describing the problem in better detail.

I am experiencing the exact same difficulty as Tom.

Antonio,

I entered my email as the web site instructed. I received a confirmation email with the password. I went to the confirmation page, which asked for the password. I was then directed to a page that ask for name and password. I'm not sure it was asking for name since it was in Italian. I tried my name and password and got an error. I tried my email and password and got the same error.

Not sure what the page is actually asking for, but the password from the email doesn't appear to be it.

What now?

I already tried that Antonio. When I did, I was transferred to this page https://aa.altervista.org/index.php?client_id=musicsoftware_wordpre...

Which ask for account name and password. I don't have and account name only email and the user name I set up when I submitted my email. This leaves me at a road block.

Ok !!

The site is overload !!

I apologize .

I send  a direct link to download .

Thanks for feedback

Hi Antonio.

I finally was able to download and instal the 1.3. The first thing I noticed is that the splash screen still says 1.2 (a bit confusing). I haven't had time to fully check it out, but i did a quick check of the display when the font size is increased and see that it still cannot display anything larger than a 7 font in the tab staff without overwriting entries.

See above. This is my biggest problem with the software. A tab printed out with the 7 font just isn't readable unless you place it right up against your nose. If you have any tricks to allow increasing the font size and expanding the staff spacing to accommodate it, it would solve a lot of tabbing problems.

Regards

Hi Tom ,

I owe you some explanation. This is an improved version of the code on sourceforge.
The developer has improved the core of the program, leaving some graphic details yet to change. The main difference between tux guitar 1.2 and 1.3 is the ability to read the midi multitrack.
For the printing problem you mentioned, you can see if this post you can help: Print settings

Merry Christmas

Thanks Antonio.

I checked the print settings as you suggested and set the various print fonts to 10 pt. The PDF output was totally scrambled.

The tab lines remained the original size while the tab numbers are all greatly oversized.

Glad to hear that program has been improved, but it still doesn't allow for printing of a good, usable tab.

Thanks again for the response.

Ok ,I can not get too specific. I expanded the post about "print setup " with further explanation. But there may be variations of which I am not aware of.

The project is a work in progress , we are working to improve it.

Have a nice day

Thanks Antonio.

I gave it a try via the batch file, but the result was the same. I even tried setting the settings to the Default, but no improvement. The application just doesn't seem to want to work with Adobe Acrobat printing.

Thank you

Following the new link I was sent because of the site overload results in "pagina non travata" .

It's not worth this much trouble to download open source software.
