He'd [[I] drive to church on Sunday & take me with him [IV] too.
Stained glass in every [I] window. Hearing aids in [D] every [G] pew.

Now grandma was a teacher Went to school in Bowling [C] Green
Traded in a [G] milking cow for a Singer sewing ma- [V] chine
She [I] called her husband 'Mister' And walked real tall & [IV] proud
She used to buy me [I] comic books After [V] grandpa [I] died.

It kind of reminds me of Desperados Waiting for a Train by Guy Clark and The Sands of Iwo Jima by The Drive-By Truckers, songs which document the passing of a generation.
