This is not so much of a reintroduction as a rebirth so to speak. I joined Cigar Box Nation many, many years ago when I initially developed an interest in more "primitive" instruments, CBGs, mountain…Continue

Howdy, I am from N.W. Missouri. Just discovered this place at the first of the year. I have really enjoyed learning about CBG's. My first is in progress but it will be slow for a lack of power tools. Anyway I have always loved the blues. First time I heard this music there were no instruments being played. I was listening to this colored lady on my paper route singing on her front porch. Hells bell I thought she was praying. She didn't mind when I would sit and listened to her sing. Anyway I been searching for that sound my whole life. And some of the folks here come real close to it with these CBG's. I am hooked.

Hi Im Keith from Portage Michigan, built my 1st CBG, It took 35 hours and will cost about $20. Everything but the tuners is out of a dumpster. I have to put Radio shack electronics in it yet but it sounds awesome. I was going to give ti to my Brother inlaw but decided to keep it and biuld him another one. Hope to chat soon and could use tips if anyone has any on strings to use for GdG tuning

Hi, i'm Barry. I just joined today. I must say i'm blown away by the site, and the opportunity to show my first two cigar box guitars. i am a professional gold and platinumsmith who loves music and guitars in particular, and after building a few guitars I decided to build a cigar box guitar along with my friend Rick, who plays on my videos. I love what I've seen so far and have been warmly welcomed to the community. i look forward to building more and seeing what others do.

Hi I'm Matt. Joined here a few weeks back. Been playing acoustic guitar for about 25 years and played a little blues but not much. Then came across a bloke in Birmingham, UK called Chicken Bone John who builds CBGs and I was completely blown away by the look, sound and how accessible the blues was with it. I am now the proud owner of a three string fretless cigar box guitar that I play at any given opportunity.

My name's Ryan. I'm living in Nashville, Tn right now, and enjoying every minute of it. Started a heavy blues band a few months ago called "the seventh sons" in order to understand/pay tribute to/bastardize the American tradition. Got it into my head to build me a new beast to lay down them tasty licks: "This Cigar Kills Fascists". Amazed and humbled by some of the great designs on here! Definitely inspired for guit number two!

Hi, my name is bob haulk and i'm very happy to have found this community. I've just built my first cbg, i got the idea from a video on youtube. My cbg sounds great and i'm totally hooked on building more. I look forward to learning all i can from the rest of you fellow builders. I love playing guitar and i must say the slide i can get from my cbg is just brilliant,id say it's what i've been looking for for years. Who'd have thunk such a simple idea as a cigar box could have made such a fine instrument.
I live in Scotland and so far i've not come across anyone who's ever heard of cbg's so when i whip mine out folks are stunned and when you start playing, wow, folks want you to build them one. I tell 'em about this site and then go build one themselves.
Cheers from the deserts of Fife, Scotland (i live just down the road from where Johnny cash's descendants hail from)
