My thoughts and opinions as I drink my second PBR with spicy hot V8 juice.   PBR and spicy hot V8 juice.  Cheap and good.  Like CBGs.

I see a decline in the numbers of videos and photos posted on CBN.   Is interest decreasing?

I have a shit-load of opinions on this, but right now, I want to hear what you think.  What is the state of the CBG world and where is it going?

Hi John and everyone- as for me, I really enjoyed building CBG's and the like. I had some life changes in the last year and I had to stop building. I still come to CBN and read and enjoy seeing all what everyone has done and I still learn new stuff, just right now I cannot do anything regarding building. I also do it as a hobby, so I suppose it will be something I will do again someday later. Best wishes to you all.

Best wishes back at you, Lonman.

I may have my perspective straighter.  There is a big world of CBG people.   CBN is not the CBG world.  It is an online COMMUNITY.

CBN is a sounding board for new ideas.  It is show and tell for builds and songs.  It is an AUDIENCE.  For many of us, it is the only audience we have that is interested in our CBGs and things related.

Community activity ebbs and flows with the seasons and seasonal events.

CBN is like a friendly small town.  We make friends- online friends for the most part.  We often  think of these people as real friends.

Newcomers are greeted and get feedback on their builds, songs, etc.  It is a give to get world.   If people give  positive feedback, they tend to get it back.   If they don't give positive feedback,  they gradually get less and less feedback for themselves.

CBN can be deceiving in the video domain.   The more CBN friends we have, the more generous feedback we receive.   And just the opposite, you may note someone who is an upper end performer, but has a history of being stingy with feedback.  Eventually those folks get minimal feedback and praise.

How true Uncle John, and then again it all may be an illusion.

Actually, CBN is a great place where we can express ourselves and swap ideas with folks who have similar interests, pick inspiration from some of the best builders around and hear steal some great licks to add to our gig list.

Always fun when someone gets a thread like this one going to stir up the creativity a bit and make us think about why we like the place.

As my flight instructor used to tell me when we were flying places together, "if you aren't having fun, what in the hell are you doing here?"

Yup on that, Duck.

I'm here for the beer, the chicks, and the muse (both building and playing). Most all of you contribute mightily to the third one, I make my own for the first, and my wife will kill me if she finds me with the third. >:-E

In my opinion a lot of people are over thinking the whole recording thing. Yes, I'd like to put out decent production with a good microphone and graphics. But if we remember that this is about cigar box guitars, using your smart phone may be over technical. I've posted 2 vids so far, both from my phone to YouTube, and I only joined a couple of months ago. That reminds me, I need to do one on my recent build for my friend David's other one. He commissioned 2.

Cameron, I agree! I've recorded a lot of pro studio records and still it's the song, tone and heart-feel of a performance that wins. We listen to 20s, 30s and even newer 70s era Delta blues guys on truly junk and or out of tune gits and they sound AMAZING... so yep, with you on this point bro.. -Glenn

Maybe it's in my head but I listen to Mississippi Fred McDowell and some of his Hill Country contemporaries with a whole new interest and appreciation. I listen to this old stuff and realize that I have a whole lot of freedom with a CBG I don't have with my other instruments, it's refreshing.

Same here, JIm.
