Thanks Matt! I'd be interested in what artwork ideas you might have. I really like your idea of handing out a CD to go along with instrument purchases.

Thanks Matthew. I never go into it with any expectations since I'm sort of new to banjo and a lot of folks there have been playing a long time. It's just great to socialize and jam with folks that I've listened to and learned from in the last few years.

Hi, Matt. Sorry I didn't reply to your question about my banjo earlier. I haven't been on in a while. Anyway, it sounds good. Not quite as "plunky" as a normal banjo, but it's got a nice twang to it. A later addition that's not in the pictures is a small strip of rubber shelf matting under the bridge. It deadens a little bit of the sustain, and pushes it a bit from guitar to banjo territory. Not a huge difference, and not really necessary, but it's what I did. The toothpick frets are holding up ok, mostly because I never play it. But all of my builds have toothpick frets, and none of them have any wear that's detrimental to playability. The eyebolts are so-so on this particular build, because they don't hold their tuning, but that's due to poor drill bit choice. On most of my other builds, they hold their tuning very well (most, because I used the same drill bit on another one, and have the same problem).

Matt, Thanks for the comment.  It was super frustrating, trying to get that track laid down. I was back and forth between using a baritone 4string and a 3 string run through a Boss octave pedal.  Add the usual production grungees, that what I thought to be an easy track took me right to the dead line.  A great example of "maybe not done, but finished".

Nice review from a performer that I respect means a lot.  I'll get to give the whole CD a listen tomorrow.  I expect to enjoy yours.  Let you have detail critique :-) of yours later.

Thanks again and blessings,

Sam

Matt, Good to hear from you.  Yes, I'm building again.  Hope to do 2-3 festivals this year and several gigs... Trying to nurture a CBG community in Springfield, pointing toward a Springfield, MO Festival next year.  I would love to have any information you have on that film.  It is a rare thing to see one of your builds in action,  Anyway, I enjoy what I do, helping others, especially when there is a sense that it's appreciated.  If you plan on any visits to festivals in the Midwest let me know.

blessings,

Sam

Matt,  Being one of the Nation's "Old Timers", I enjoy watching people develop over time.  It is much more enjoyable when there has been a "give and take" between the two.  I like where you are right now and enjoy the gifts that you are giving to the world...

blessings,

Sam
