This guitar has been hanging in a local music store, according to the clerk, in this condition for about 10 years. The owner says it's not for sale - I tried to buy it, but no dice. He has my card, and knows to call me if he changes his mind or needs bail money really fast...

From the limited amount of research I've done on it, it looks like a late 1964 or early 1965 Teisco Del Rey ET-440. At the time, it was the most expensive model in the Teisco catalog, selling for $150. So yeah - it would be a cool project guitar...
