There aren't a lot of lessons/TABs for 3 string CBGs, so maybe we can use this thread to direct others to some of the tunes we've learned online.

I've only been playing 3-strings for a couple of months, but I have three songs in my repertoire... All of which I learned from YouTube...

Walkin' Blues (a lesson by Justin Johnson)
Rollin' and Tumblin' (a lesson by Justin Johnson)
Chicken Coop Blues (Mike Snowden - not a lesson, but he has TAB for this on his website).

So, if you have a tune that you learned, please share with the rest of us so we can all become better players!

Let's see if this reference link works. Several people--including me--have posted tabs.

Okay, thanks! This site is big, and I still don't understand the dif between forums and groups.
Groups are for smaller collections of like-minded individuals from the larger Borg to get together, and cuss and discuss their Groupiness. Forums are for like-minded individuals to get together, debate the issues of the day, and cuss and discuss "those people" in Groups. Discussions are subheadings under Groups and Forums, on a particular topic of special interest, where like-minded individuals get together to deeply commune further on dead horse issues not sufficiently beaten in Forums and Groups. Occasionally, lost souls from Cheez-Whiz Nation wander through, exclaiming "WTF??!!"

Took me more than 6 months of "lurking" before I embraced the idea that none of the categories really make sense. Please contact Ron Sprague for further info on a Zen-like acceptance of the fact that nothing is as it seems. (After you master that, everything makes perfect sense because nothing is intended to make any sense at all.)

Why does this seem to make Zense?

Hey, Marc.  You've learned some good songs and difficult songs.    Have you gone to the How To Play section at the top of this very page and then found Knotlenny's CBG 101?   Great lesson.  Helped me and a lot of others.

Do you sing some?   Most of my videos are singing type song - and often I type out the lyrics and occasionally I type out the chords.   Using Knotlenny's method, try my videos  Wine Spo-dee-o-dee,  Frisco Bay Blues and Mean Old Frisco.  If the chords say  G C and D, use  open, 5th fret and 7th fret on a GDg, DAd, CGc and etc guitar   If it says I, IV and V for chords, use open 5th and 7th.

Also, I have a 3 string instruction video 'Levee Gonna Break Lesson'.

Best wishes.

Hi Robert. I've been playing 6 string for about ten years, so the switch to three is a breeze!
I don't sing... So I'm looking for instrumental tunes to play. I'll check out your Levee lesson.

I've got about 2 dozen tunes here http://www.learncigarboxguitar.com/content/songbook

I'd be interested to know how many people would find the Scorch files useful (a midi player that you can play the tab, change key's tempos etc). You have to download and install the plug-in. I've had to create a seperate songbook and create pdf's for people that don't want to install the plug-in and it's a hassle keeping them both maintained. If no-one uses them I may just ditch it, I could do more tabs then.

I've added a stack of song lessons to my course and there's my youtube channel too.

Thanks, Patrick. I'll check into those videos.

Bluegrass Tabs for 3-string CBG:

I just posted another entry over on the CBG Tabs group.

I'm excited about the book "Bluegrass Songbook" by Peter Wernick that has dozens of 3-string tabs for DGb tuning.

See CBG Tabs discussion wall for publication info and comments.
