I have a question about pickup height. What distance should there be between the strings and the pickup surface? I have a mini humbucker with double rails from suntek.

Hey folks:  I've built 4 or 5 CBG's now, and they have been turning out pretty good. Now I'd like to build a cigar box bass for a friend. Can anyone point me in the right direction - as far as some neck dimensions, etc.? Thanks!!!! Will

Thanks for the input guys.What I did was take the humbucker to pieces, so now i have two pups, remove the 6mm bar magnet from the bottom.Push out the 5mm metal rods and replace them with 5mm dia x 10mm rod magnets i only put four in to cove the 3 strings.

This made the pup a good 6mm thinner.so It only needed 6mm deep slot in the neck.to acomo date the pup.The pup now is only 3mm above the body and it sounds fantastic.
