Being that I am drawn towards these gits because I build them myself how I want, and only sell a handful face to face or give them to friends, I could really care less about the Chinese entering the market. If someone is too lazy or uncreative to build their own, well, whatever. If you're trying to make a living building CBGs and selling them on ebay, well, sucks to be you, lowest price and best placement will always win. If they've been successful for a few years, maybe you should learn something, maybe like 10 bucks of parts and 3 hours of work may not be worth 250-350 bucks to some people. You're better off teaching people to build their own, like Chickenbone John.

Personally, I own lots of Asian stuff, from my cell phone to the components on my bikes, and also amps and guitars, with no complaints. Corporations are corporations around the world, and all of them stick it to the people actually producing their wealth as much as they can get away with, so why should I give a damn about some bullshit label of origin which is usually misleading. Blind anger towards Asia is misplaced, as the vast majority of what you wear, drive, play and work with is either partially or wholly made there (including your crappy Dodge). If you are buying from CB Gitty, you are inevitably supporting Asian manufacturing. Get over it and make stuff yourself.

A straw man or straw person  is a type of argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition (the "straw man"), and to refute it, without ever having actually refuted the original position. This technique has been used throughout history in polemical debate, particularly in arguments about highly charged, emotional issues.

Whereas a red herring is similar, but smells worse. The Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz was a straw man. That's why making him an intellectual, and the subsequent ruler of Oz, replacing the Wizard, was so funny.

I know this is a 2013 post, but is that the Eddy Finn uke? I saw it on Facebook recently. I get why people get so up-in-arms about this stuff. We're supposed to support local builders and small businesses. However, all DIY ends up getting the factory treatment. Also, think of the musician who's never heard of CBGs, and either finds one of these, or receives one. These could be gateway/rabbit hole instruments. Even Gitty sell some of his kits thru Guitar Center now.
