Yeah, I can't destroy to create, I'd be getting more tuners and putting your POS 6 string back together too ;)
hello hello hello ! this is so crazy . i grew up in huntsville alabama . my grandfather helped me build my first cbg when i was like 5 years old . i move out to texas and youtube surfing i come across shane speal . i couldnt believe my eyes seeing a grown man playing a cigar box . and playing the hell out of it ! so i went to the smoke shop got a free box ripped some strings and tuners off my pos 6 string found some rusty bolts . lol only "tools" i had were a pocket knife and a small screwdriver drill . i found a long wood stake on my moms land and put the beast together . now i find you guys . i swear this is like an ongoing christmass !
I was checking out youtube for more inspiration on diy counters and coil winders and came accross this gem - like magic! no soldering required just string and timber lol.... sure it works but my cat would have a field day with this...http://youtu.be/OYDH0ATaP7w
I like that pallet tool. I've never had good luck with prying the boards. I usually cut through the nails from the side using a reciprocating saw. But it takes quite a bit of time. This looks to be much more efficient timewise.
OK, I'll do the admissions & confessions kinda thing that always gets you in the deepest trouble.. lol
I've tried rakes, shovels, hoes, pitchforks, shovels, large demo bars, crow bars, nailbars, chisels, axes, skilsaws, chainsaws, sawzalls, and caterpillar tractors.
Anything with a wooden handle is gonna get broken.
All the steel tools gouge and bust up the pallets.
Tedious to use a saw, for what you loose.
...It's the strength and angle of the lifters at the fulcrum of that steel handled tool that make it great...
It's the best device I've ever seen for the task!
Well, I've got a gazillion in component selection phase, and have not been playing my Dbo much because I took up the fiddle. I play it every day and am making progress. slo, but steadily. :-)
To me, fiddles are fascinating!
Best

Hey Rusty- your welcome. I struggled with pallets and thought this would help some folks. Wondering if a heavy pitchfork would also work.
right now I have about 4 projects on the bench. I have an upright bass, a 6 string license plate, a 9.5" Reso in a custom box and have a fiddle in the early stages. Geesh! I got to get something finished soon! I also am trying to finish a post for very cool sound holes
Tnx Wade!
I'll build one of those pretty quickly... got a stack of pallets I must take apart ASAP!
Some fairly good mahogany and oak in them...
....what are you working on these days????
:-)
