Played with a plectrum on a Yamaha 6-string Guitalele, tuned ADGCEA. Heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin's "The Battle of Evermore," and Heart's "Dream of the Archer." Trying to sound like a mandolin. Also, got pretty lost about 27 seconds from the end...and it was going so well, too ;-)

Cool! You got that Mando sound going on.  It may be inspired by Zep and Heart, but it has the signature Oily sound.

One thing I never knew until a couple years ago was that John Paul Jones was playing mandolin on those folk inspired LZ tunes - I always figured it was Page playing all the parts. You can check him out playing with Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch these days.

Ahhhh, now I get it! Salt and pepper goatee suit me. And the ADGCEA is the same as placing a capo at the 5th fret on a standard 6-string, which then shortens the scale length into Uke territory. Try it on a standard git; James Taylor frequently uses a 5th fret capo, which puts all your standard first position chord shapes in the key of A instead of E. A suits his tenor voice better, plus you get different timbres and tonalities of chords but without having to learn different fingering.

SJ,

It is a pleasure to have other players recognize little details like that. Thank you! This was a lot of fun to compose, and it came together amazingly quickly and easily, in 15 minute intervals over the course of a week.

Awesome playing and composition Oily !

Ah, Yamaha RDs.  Remember dreaming of them at school.  RD350 and then 250.
