Enough to make you want to scream...I tell ya! I filmed horsetails and didn’t know it Vinnie! I was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, didn’t see these things. Ignorance of the law won’t save me, I know! Some times you just have to drive these things full throttle, clear out the  valves! Appreciate it, thanks!

Doesn’t take much. Each plant stem prints on the pot if wrapped tight.

I’m a young guy Dave, don’t go back quite that far ha! Interesting, I guess it’s the silica that make suds if you wash with it. So it grows in Minnesota and Iowa. You must have to use quite a bit to wrap your pottery.  I played in weed fields all the time in Oregon when I was a kid, never saw the plant. Cat tails yep, but not horsetail. Thanks Dave, my advanced education never stops!

I use horsetail for pottery in the wood kiln. It is a good source of silica and makes a glaze when wrapped around pots in the firing. It’s a cool plant from prehistoric times.

Richard, we kids called it pop weed.  I think the pioneers called it horse tail.

I googled pop weed Uncle out of curiosity! Fields of dreams for kids, puff the magic dragon! Ha! Maybe a regional term. They don’t grow natural here, the gardeners just planted some as a barrier plant. Just stalk, no leaves. Smokin! I’ll grab a few and ask the wife to try it on the dishes...the term run like Hell comes to mind.
