Yes, this one is lacking in the bass department...I've taken to using a thumb-pick which helps. Also, there's a piezo mounted on the back of the "bisquit", so I can just plug it in and adjust at the amp.

Yes, I agree you did a nice job. It is rather difficult to find something that makes for a good resonator. Real cones are very thin spun aluminum and function with the flexibility of a banjo skin. Possibly experimenting with different cones will balance the tone and increase the volume. Notice you are getting a lot of treble and not much bass. In general, it seems builders here tend to use items that are too stiff. Keep in mind, the power of the vibrating strings drive the cone and create the sound. If things are not vibrating, sound waves are not being created. Bass notes require a larger vibration to be reproduced. Thanks for sharing. Always great to see people being creative. Enjoy, Keni Lee

Looks like a great project!  I got my first cheapo guitar back from my parent's house a few weeks ago.  I'm going to chop it up in the same way.

Hey Mark - nice job with that thing... If you are looking to do another one you can get a decent cone from Frank at Republic guitars.  Also I have had good luck banging my cover plates out of .26 gauge steel from Home Depot. Of course I have been going for a much more home made look. Your thoughts may be completely different.  Again Nice Video.....
