original blues - acoustic - on a GDgB pot lid guitar

I went [I] down to the [V] train yard,
with my [IV] satchel in my [I] hand.
Headed some place to [V] be a new [I] man.

I left behind a [V] woman,
I never [IV] shoulda left [I] hind.
I was tired of working, tired of that old grind.

I had to ride the [V] blinds
cause' I [IV] didn't have much [I] dough.
I rode the Katy train to the [V] Gulf Of Mexi- [I] co.

I couldn't keep a [V] job there,
Cause I [IV] messed up left and [I] right.
I hopped the Southern Pacific and [V] left one stormy [I] night.

I drifted out to Cali-[V]fornia,
Had a [IV] job on the Frisco [I] Bay.
I had it made till I [V] pissed it all a-[I]way.

I got in with a [V ] bad crowd
and [IV] ended up in [I] jail
Ain't no way to get ahead be- [V] hind them county [I] bars.

I'm a drunk and a [V] bum.
I [IV] wasted my [I] life.
Never shoulda left that woman. [V] I could had a good [I] life.

Good song UJ. Like that pot lid guitar too

LOL, Hound.  Will fix that and thanks.

Thanks, Rich.  It helps so much to sing in the right key.   I don't have a big range, so I try to find the sweet key.  Usually it is G, but it varies some.

Thank you Michael.   I like those lyrics and sad story - in part because, 'There, but for the grace of God, goeth me.'

GREAT JOB UNCLE J - DEFINITELY THE BLUES AND LIFE

Comment by Rich on June 25, 2016 at 4:55am

Uncle J -this song fits the timbre of your voice. ... a bit of  high, lonesome  going on.

I like it a lot.

Digging this a lot.

Says "solo and repeat last verse" when it's actually the first.

He must be drunk is what I thunk.

Hey, nice shirt.

Thanks James O.  Thank you, Clock.   I think those other Friscos lack a big bay!
