Bug I have built some guitars with no holes and some with small slot holes and people love the sound. my electrics are full of mahogany with about a 1/2 air space to the lid on the back not real loud but the sustains amazing. i call it the muffled sound. I think it has alot to do with the amount wood that goes through the box the more wood the sustain, if you used a metal rod like some banjo's you get a real thin sound. Best part of building voicing.
