Made to look tatty and road worn with hammered steel pins holding the top on and black taped edges. Hope you like it.

Haha thanks, Mr Wolf. I have no idea what this cool is but the guitar definitely has that "something" about it. Me, I'm as uncool as an uncool thing lol. In this my Frankentstine and I are polar opposites!
Thanks again Clock. Much appreciated and glad you like it :)
Resoundingly coooooool....................
Thanks, Derek. I love playing it but it was a lot more work than any previous project I've built and I made tons of mistakes that I would do differently next time. This was my first time making my own box from scratch, my first none neck through and my first resonator. Having said all of that though I'm so glad I made it. She's my new baby! I hope you do make yourself one my friend. They're massive fun to play and give a great scratchy blues tone. Rough, dirty and held together at the seems with Gorilla tape. Sounds like me haha!
Thanks again my friend.
Very nice build! Cool as all get out, Bear. Fine playing too. Sounds mighty fine. I have been collecting odds and ends to make a reso "one of these days" Â :)
Thanks, Mr Lunsford. :) Glad you like it.
Nice Build
ok ok all explained under the video ... be patient but here the halzaimer has already reached the target!Thank you for your detailed description although I translate with google I realized the important things. I was careful to your work because it is a bit of time that I would make an instrument with soundboard sheet but tense as an animal skin, but I have not yet found a solution that convince.Good I work.
Hi, Elio, glad you like it. The frame of the box, and it's literally just a frame with support struts at four points around the resonator, is made of sapele which is 43mm by 26mm.I put the sapele thickest side up for extra strength. The guitar itself is akin to an electro acoustic standard guitar in as much as it has a single "cut out" for fret access right up to the 22nd fret. The resonator itself is an upside down dog bowl of 8 inch diameter. I bought the four string tailpiece specifically, off eBay for £7.90. The top of the box is a hardwood picture frame backing. I believe they used to back picture frames with hardwood, or someone did this time. Any hardwood sheet would work I guess. The "lid" is quite thick so the only resonating part is the dog bowl. The sound hole to release the sound from inside the box and from the underside of the bowl is just a sink strainer cover. Then, final part is a side piece from a pine bed frame, cut up and laid side by side in three pieces to cover the back and allow the front (neck end) and rear (jack plug end) bowl supports to have something to sit on. The piezo is glued on the inside wall of the dog bowl using hot glue all over and under it. The strings are D'addario 80/20 bronze acoustic guitar strings.
Hope that helps. If you have any other questions then feel free to ask. Always happy to help and if you decide to build one then good luck! :)
Thanks, Brent. :)
Beautiful scratched sound. You've made a big box: wood and sheet metal?
