I haven't tried it yet. I couldn't resist the temptation to go to the garage and prize the back off my violin to see what was inside it. Just popped in for a coffee, then I'll start hacking at the neck !

Thanks for talking me through the process. However, I'm an old dog and that looks suspiciously like a new trick !

I did buy an African tourist-tat drum for £2.50 from a charity shop yesterday. I may be better sticking with that :-)

Free Drum samples are useful and fairly available but I downloaded. siggy's stuff with my acid pro as I just needed drums. Bemuzic just hits books for a rhytm and that works too. Also see beer can blues... pretty much anything works.. Helps if you have a Usb interface and a mic...I use a Line Pod 6 Ux1 and Podfarm all tge effects you could ever need. But it doesnt like windows 7 and needs resetting a lot!. you have to select the driver in acid pro to UX1...and need a Mic you can also DI you guitar then too. Recommend the compressor built in to this as this ups the level from a small piezo so you can use it. and The Noise gate can be usefull to take back out the hiss....cheap set up but works. Highly recommend the UX2 or above as you can only do one thing at at time with the Ux1 even though it looks like you can do 2 you cant!!!!  so you need the 2 channel one.

This gives you digital multi track studio with every effect possible for about £129

(not inc video and mics, guitars lead etc)

It could only be better with a window 7 version!! and 2 channels for the UX1 (ie UX2)
