I need your help good people of the Nation.

This is a speaker test for my converted Murphy radio/guitar amp. The first clip is the amp playing through the radio's existing speaker, and the second is the amp hooked up to the amp's original speaker. I don't change the setting on the amp (apart from adding a little volume for the overdrive).

I think I know which I'm leaning towards, but I'd love to have some input from you guys. Which speaker do you like the sound of better? Can you even tell a difference?

Me and RTZ have older ears. We like similar tones. Go with what your ears prefer, as mine are full of wax ;-).

The second one for me

Aw, man! What are you doing to me Oily?! Just when I think I've made a decision, you wade in with a doozy!

Am I too late? What'd I miss? I like the second clip; the tone of that speaker sounds more ole timey on clean, and the dirt gives it added character.

Thanks for your input guys. I think I'm going to leave the original speaker in, I think listening back to video I prefer it's more full sound (and it does save me the job of working out how to install the smaller one).

Im going with the cleaner of the two. I thing the distortion just muddies up the great sound of a beautiful instrament and a wonderful playing style.

Cool conversion Vinyl. I like the old speaker too - much more open sounding, especially on the clean setting.

Cheers, Wes, thanks for your input.
Yes, I'd agree. The old speaker is bigger and a trifle louder, although it seems to let more of the extraneous sounds through. The new one is a little weedy in comparison.
