Just posting a quick demo of the Fiddlestick before I head into town. The rod piezo in the saddle is good but the disc piezo is very harsh. I think it may be replaced with a flatpup at the neck.

I've not built a 4-string instrument yet. I sort of built 3-stringers to get away from my 6-stringer guitars (not home made), which I'm not very good at playing :-(

I may add a 4-stringer to the ever-growing list of projects :-)

what do you think about a "4-string" version?

Thanks guys. I must admit, I hadn't thought of building a bass into a fiddle but that Hofner has given me ideas. Maybe I can find a cheapo viola somewhere :-)

Thanks Keni, Be and Nancy.  It's nice to be able to blend the 2 pickups but, if I fit a Flatpup, I'll have 3. The only way I can think of to blend 3 pickups is to have 3 volume controls. That would give a huge variety of tonal options, but may be just a bit confusing. Note to self: Don't glue the back on permanently.

if I could only have one I'd choose the rod, but the disc one also has an old timey charm. Good to have the choice and to be able to blend them..like having several instruments : -)
