Hello Elio, yes that's possible since Mr Lomax was so involved in documenting this type of music but I'm not sure about the description in a book. Thanks!

Dig deep turtlehead! And please share any cool stuff you come across. It's amazing how making and playing homemade instruments takes us on a journey full of history lessons, music lessons,woodworking lessons and lots of things we were previously unaware of.

Thanks Derek. It's very interesting to me to hear some of the origins of the music we play and also to compare the way it sounds to recordings of African music using similar instruments. I play mostly American traditional music and I do the same thing trying to trace it back to it's Scotch/Irish roots. It's so cool to hear the European music blended with African sounds to make up something distinctly American.

That's how I came across it too turttlehead! Now I've got the documentary on order since it also features some of my my favorite fiddle players  - oh, and Jimmy Driftwood too. Thanks for the Glen Faulkner info. I wasn't sure who was playing on that one.  It also led me to listen to a bunch of Jesse Mae Hemphill recordings. Man, she was something else!

Good timing, I just watched this the other night in going through the history stuff lately.  I think that's Glen Faulkner on diddley for the second song.
