Sounds like a balalaika or maybe more like a bouzouki or due to his technique.

Well - that's cool!  Appreciate the comments; it IS amazing craftsmanship!  And I like that this sound may not be for everyone - glad we can all still be friends!  (Unlike some governments....)  ;-)

Jim Morris might know him.  Cool video, neat guy.   I am going to disagree with you previous commenters.  I don't care for that sound!  I like dulcimer sound.   I like old timey (Not Scruggs style) banjo.  But this sound kind of grates on me.  Yup, with Dave - great craftsmanship.
