So ya posted some pictures

Were all friends here So I thought Id ask a simple question

When you post pictures or videos isint it nice when other members respond?

A little feedback How does it sound How does it look

So how come most members dont take the time to make any comments?

Im not saying ya have to do it all the time

But if you like others to tell ya how good you are Try it for the other posts

Just a thought

It doesnt hurt to be nice

These simple words are most certainly over used in todays speech ,but they are not used as much as silence on this site . I like to keep my comments short because of my typing and spelling skills ! If I type too long I will use words like "wordy", like it's a real word ! To make a point and make my comment longer let me tell a story . Sometime ago there was a discussion on this site about " thin pickups " . I worked day and night to get one made and post the first video of one , also my first video . The video was terrible ! The sound was bad and it was so dark you couldn't tell it was a thin pick up , I looked like an idiot and maybe a liar . A complete disaster ! When I posted it I got one comment on it ...... "nice"....... that comment came from Wes Carl . It meant everything to me . All I had before that was my failure ! THANKS , again Wes . That was nice , cool and awesome of you !!!!!!!!!!!! !!! ! How do people feel about over used punctuation marks ? !!!!!!! !! To me it only means it's nicer !! , cooler !!! or more awesome !!!!! ! ! ! I'm sorry I don't have a smiley face icon to end this with and I hope that by being so "wordy" I don't appear to be short with anyone . Not my intent .

Some things are cool. Samuel L. Jackson us cool (one critic wrote of his part in the Shaft movie that "he looks better in leather than a cow"). If something isn't as cool as SLJ then it really shouldn't be cool at all.

Awesome - give me a break. If "Amazing Grace" had been written yesterday, by someone with the maturity of an unripe banana it would have been called Awesome Grace. Perish the thought.

Seriously though, if you really feel that a word sums up your feeling about something that is fine. It is just when it is used to appear to communicate something that isn't real or genuine that I have a problem with it. I'll get off my soapbox now.

Comment by Randy S. Bretz on January 10, 2012 at 9:34am: Maybe it`s more a diffrence in age using the words "cool" and " awesome " in commenting on a pic. I myself being old school like using those words to discribe a feeling i have about a pic. If it`s a pic or vid that really is over the top i will comment more about it. I think just having even a one word in the comment box to a pic is alot better then nothing at all. While their are some who are just starting out or some who are old timers at this art of creation, it boils down to we all enjoy getting and reading nice comments on our creations.

I see so many pics here of great workmanship how can you find the time?
If you really push my buttons cos ur thinking.. And it's something new.. And if I happen to stop by at just the right time to see it.. Then I'm always sure to say so..

So many guys here are just amazing excellent craftsmen, I guess it just sets the bar a little higher. I certainly don't want ppl writing stuff on my pages if it's just lip service neither. Main thing I guess is to be supportive and helpful to the new builders like hopefully someone was to you.
And if you're one of the guys who thinks outside the box, well thanks to those guys who really push the thinking and innovating I salute you
