Freakish Guitar/Drum hybrid, PA CBG Fest filmed & online, One Hand Dan - Cigar Box Nation News

Have you been over to Cigar Box Nation's Facebook page?  This week, we had a full-on "Piezo Day" with videos and how-tos.  There were follow ups to the Pennsylvania and Kansas City Cigar Box Guitar Fests (photos and videos), featured instruments of the day and more.

GUITAR/DRUM FREAK PATENT! John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful discovered this patent and mailed it to Shane Speal several years ago. It shows a rectangle guitar that has a drum-type head as the soundboard. A drum foot pedal is connected to the guitar to add thump to the strum.

Sebastian added the note, "Where is it now that we NEED it?"

In the Facebook discussion, several builders were intrigued and started talking about actually building this contraption.  



Viral Video:  Shane Speal shoots a 48-second vid after building a cigar box guitar and it skyrockets to 150,000 hits in 2 days.
