Interesting video about some Estonian folk instruments. Around 15 and 20 and 24 min the luthier shows bladder instrument. Filmed in 1988 http://arhiiv.err.ee/guid/201005070337087010010002081001517C41A0400...

All kidding aside, it's interesting to see someones creativity to make something useful out of what's leftover and usually gets thrown out.

And the Whoopie Cushion was born!  Or maybe this is that little pink guy that leads that woman around in those TV Commercials.

I would be afraid of losing control.

I believe that in several places in europe such instruments were built. I found one more video-in descriptions they also mention the bladder violin history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMrumB7xMWE

yep, pigs bladder. very first instruments were probably without fingerboard. therfore melodies could not been played-instrument was for accompaniment.

later fingerboards were added. The luthier told that there were 1-4 string versions, but he thinks 1 string is most rational as it is not easy to keep several strings in tune on bladder :)
