After quite a while I finally finished my latest build project, a resonator ukulele.

Width at nut: 35mm

Box: Chica cigar box 232x135x42mm

Neck: Douglas fir

Fretboard: Beech

I had a fantastic time at Capt'n Catfish's CBG festival in Pleutersbach this weekend (see here)

It was amazing to see how lively the scene in Germany is, and how many people enjoy CBGs and the music played therewith.

Today I finished my Diddley bow, a quick DIY project made from an old plank, an empty jar, a few bolts that I found in the cupboard, a left over machine head, and a piezo disk.

It makes some noise, acoustically, and also when plugged into an amp, alright.

I yet have to figure out how to make it…

So, after a friend of mine sadly passed away I recorded a version of Amazing Grace on my Reso-CBG.

At first I kept it private, and only shared it with a handful of friends we had in common. Now, shortly after my late friend's birthday, the first on which I could not congratulate him, I decided to make it more accessible, in tribute to Duncan.

I believe it is a nice piece for a CBG, and Duncan would have laughed and politely said "not bad, eyh".

So I'll start this Blog only about 2 years after getting registered, and after 2 CBG's already built in the last 3 years... with a presentation of my latest built, a Cohiba Ukulele.

Scale is 350mm, the box is of Cuban origin (not to worry, I'm residing in the EU), the neck is made from scrap wood (probably ash), bridge and nut are from home grown prune wood harvested in my own garden.

Strings are, so far, classic guitar strings I recycled after having them replaced, well,…
