Instruments built by Slow Mick (aka Mikhail Yakunkin)

There is a line of 3pcs of Solid Body Guitars (SBG), which were inspired by design of CBG, I met in internet. All were manufactured by me in 2022-2023.

So the first two instruments were used as prototypes to develop the final design (#3) and Guitar body final shaping, including selection of necessary tools, materials and type of woods and coating used.

Special attention was dedicated to development and assembling of the flat pick-up, which really allows to simplify the…

New album, with Cigar Box Guitars used of every track! Have a listen and let me know what you think...

You can hear the album HERE

Cigar box guitars made by me were used on every song.

I also made most of the drums and percussion instruments, plus some Native American Flutes. (On trk 2, one made from some garden cane is used, and on trk 6, one made from black bamboo)

The only bought instruments are a cheap old children's glockenspiel, a harmonica, an Irish Whistle (on…

Pickin one note at a time.

Don't really play anything (yet), but saw a video of a CBG and have started making one.

In the mean time I have tuned a Ukulele to the open G (GDgB) and picked out the Chorus to Casey Jones (Grateful Dead).

Help out and give us the rest or the full Tab for it if you'd like.

Guitar jig!

I was in the need of having some kind of jig not only where I could do some fret work, but that I could also use to do other operations, or just lay down the guitars.  The inspiration is from Stewart-MacDonald fretting jig. But since its price is way too much for…

Starting up CBG Club/Workshop St. Louis MO. FORUM

I know most of you live nowhere near this area however your ideas to inspire are welcome. I've created a forum for this club/topic here on the nation. As we grow, there will be a Facebook page and web site link to focus club info. This is a golden opportunity to take building and playing CBG's out and into the community on a monthly bases. I plan on sharing all I've learned and meet new friends in person while lounging inside a awesome Blues embossed environment drinking lrg ice teas. The…

Tobacco Tin Masterpiece

I finally got the chance to meet Al of "The Factory Throwouts" along with Shane Speal at the First Dispensing Co. last night. It was Al's idea to start the contest for the Tobacco Tin guitar and I was the lucky one (though I still can't believe it) to win it. It has a nice tinny sound (go figure), a handy way of hanging it up (using the tailpiece) and a cool Indian-head penny inlay in the neck. Here are some pics.…

I Never Thought I'd Blog

I've made a couple of pretty straight forward instruments so far but have been kinda flying by the seat of my pants. Each time they turn out different and I encounter different problems because I haven't built the same type of instrument twice. In an effort to put some logic to what I do (and so I can remember) I've decided to keep track of my work here. So far I've made 2 3-stringers, a Tenor Guitar, and a 2-String Bass. My current project is upping the game in some respects but not so in… Continue
