Do you have any info (an e-commerce page maybe) about your flat pickups?  I'm looking for pricing and pics.

Yup Wayfinder, I thought for sure we were already friended. I've been making pennywhistle and transverse flutes for a while but have slacked off since most time is being spent on string things now. I'm considering doing a short how to vid when I get some time.

Awesome!  Glad it worked out for you.  Laminate necks are great; not only do you have the different grains in the woods for extra strength, you also have the re-enforcement of the extra glue layers.  And it looks great too, especially if using different types of wood.

Thankee kindly.   I try to make each one as if I'm going to put it on my best git.

Thanks Wayfinder - I was thinking double sided tape but wasn't sure. The clips of the pickup sound good and it's certainly a nice looking pickup.

There are several ways to surface-mount a FlatCat pickup.  One is to measure the holes and locations on your guitar (if there are any) and then drill and mount the pickup with screws.  It is very easy to drill.  I prefer to simply use a thick bead of silicone glue.  It requires drying time, but it holds well and can be easily removed later if needed.   Another way is to use double-sided foam tape, which holds very well and dampens vibration.

"I agree with Milt: with a well choosen piece of wood for a three- or four-stringer there is no need for a truss bar, even without a fret board glued to the neck, and for a six-stringer I too would prefer an adjustable truss rod and not just a bar.…"
