Cbgitty says that you can hack the psycho knob by adding a gain pot to it. Can anyone elaborate? Pictures would be really helpful. Thanks so much

"Short answer, yes you can wire the 2 pickups to the 3-way switch and straight to the jack, volume knob is optional since you can control the volume on your amp."

Making an Octave Mandolin

I'm planning on making and OM with a Gurkha Cellar Reserve box. I'm going to make the scale short as i can, 20".  I am going to electrify it. Now the main question is do i make a proper Mandolin with 8 strings, or more of a 4 string CBG tuned GDAE? I play mandolin already and have made an 8 sting CBM and a 4 string CBM. The idea is to make a new and different instrument that i can tune like my Mandolin GDAE but can play more like a guitar. Thoughts?ThanksSee More

4 or 8 strings?

Hey all I'm new around here. I've been playing mandolin for a few months now and i love it. I'm thinking of doing a CBM build. My question is 4 or 8 strings? If i go with 4 strings would the CB Gitty Uke necks and tuners be OK to use with mandolin stings? Or am I better off getting a full neck and a full 8 string tuner, doing a neck through design?I'm wanting to put either a piezo  with tone knob or single coil Delta bucker pick up with tone nob.  I have basic carpentry skills, and decent hand…See More
