"Hi Paul, String tension, but also some people use a circular file to file a grove into the neck for the cut bolt nut. Even then, ultimately, it's string tension that holds in the nut. Same for the bridge. -Rand. "

"Probably just the tension/downforce from the strings. Some people also add a small amount of glue. "

"Thanks oilyfool. Yeah, I was always told to go big or go home so a six string seemed appropriate. A three string is being worked on at this time. Definitely have learned a thing or two from the first build."
