Hey guys,So I really like the open G and D tunings, but peas wondering, could you take the strings from a 12 string set and make a guitar tuned Gg Dd Gg? How would it play compared to a 'standard' CBG? has anyone else done this? What I was thinking was that maybe the fingerpicking wouldn't work due to the strings you hit?Anyway, thanks guysJoeSee More

"Haha it won't affect the sound at all, but be careful with the bridge spacing. I made the mistake of drilling wonky, and the string didn't sit in the bolt-bridge very well, which meant extra work. Very nice build though! Just be sure to…"

If you want a higher pitch instrument, you can use strings gbe instead and tune ebe. Same 151 tuning. If the lower g is too slack because you are tuning down to get the e, use a slightly heavier gauge. Of course, I am talking about a standard scale length of about 24 - 25 inches. Enjoy.
