"for dulcimer fretting, use frets 0 (nut) 2 4 5 7 9 11 12 and leave out frets 1 3 6 8 and 10."

"The other fret method I've seen for canjo's is dulcimer fretting, Stewmac has those as well on the fret calculator."

"Frets? Try http://www.ekips.org/tools/guitar/fretfind2d/ Just tell it how long your scale length is (nut to bridge) and it will give you the measurements. It will even let you download a pdf with a pattern if you'd rather transfer the marks…"
