Hi Jim....
I usually build 3 string CBGs. They cost me more time than money. The 1X2X6' oak that I use costs me about $4, The strings cost me $4.50 from Target. The piezo transducer and 1/4 jack cost me about $5. Bridges and nuts I build out of oak. The tuners cost me $10 for 6 which means that it's $5 for each guitar. I have small cans of stain so there really isn't a price to be put on that and the Cigar Boxes are free or $2 each. I use sink strainers for the resonators.....and finally, if I fret it, I use finishing nails. My total cost usually comes in at around $25-$30 each. What I am trying to get across is that the parts are not really expensive at all, especially if you are going to sell the guitars.

Hope this helps you.
