The Phrygian Kid replied to Wes "I'm Baaaaack" Yates's discussion Volume pot as a blend
"IMHO is a supporting argument for blend pots. If you NEED two pickups... Well a blend pot can do the job of two volume pots. And a switch. Too many controls on a guitar is ugly in my opinion, although once it approaches the absurd it can become…"

The Phrygian Kid replied to Wes "I'm Baaaaack" Yates's discussion Volume pot as a blend
"*you need two 10 cent diodes here or at the extremities, (100% one pickup, the other off) you'll be bleeding the lot to ground ie both off ;) Also be sure to use a 'balance pot' or in the centre both pups will be on less than…"

The Phrygian Kid replied to ron carlson's discussion Flatpup. 250K, 500K or direct to jack?
"Of course, that's how my circuits work, rhythm sound = blend pot + tone control or lead sound = bridge pickup straight out.. If you're clever with a multimeter you can work out how to get a 2 for 1 tone control with one those balance pots…"

An archtop piezo bridge method for u to try

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 8:15pm 3 Comments

This is how i been making my last three or four bridges..
it maybe useful for u if u got a bit of a neck angle and some height in there.. Ur all very welcome to use, improve etc on my ideas

my recent experiments indicate that a taller bridge gives me more volume, and spreading the feet further apart seems to as well..

1.. ok so here we have a typical neck for me,… Continue

Actually, Kid.  It was things you said that convinced me on the importance of neck angle.

Hey Jef.  Thanks for the comment and refining my idea about the different pickup configuration over on the Cigar Box Guitar FB group.  Looks like that discussion has been deleted so I wanted to pass along my "thanks" here in case you didn't see it.

I have a rare weekend home so my daughter and I have planned to make a guitar as described and test it out.  I think I have a nice design ready to go once the weekend starts on the East Coast of the USA.

Cheers, Kid, for lowdown on Miss Rigby. Very interesting (see below! lol) Yes, swappin tracks would be good sometime (am getting wee 4 Track soon). One thing STILL like to know: who is voice on sermon? Cheers, Mr Phrygian, and have good weeeknd :)

LOL, Mr TPK. Ah'm still listenin to Rigby, ore than the rest. A wee hsitory/vidoe of how you put it together, on CBN, would be INTERSTING. Not teh technical side, just how ya layered it etc. Some track, Kid, ma man. Of all the tracks on the album, this should be the one to try to realease, ask publisher permission etc. You should really DO somethin with it, ma man. Don't know what, but deserves ta be heard outside CB Nation. BTW, "mad bastard" good "summing up"  . Ah treaure the compliment!  LO LOL

Thanks for the Australian nod. That image is from a piece of my wife's art work. Those tigers were awesome. Guess they must have just been really tasty and thats why they aren't around. I'm kidding. We have a 6 foot poster of one of them in our living room.
