I've almost finished my first cigar box guitar.  I had planned on tuning it to GDG.  I've been playing bass for about a year and a half and have very little understanding concerning how to chord a…Continue

Bass

"Hi Andre, I am by no means an expert.  This is the only bass that I have built.  Work, family, and band limit my time to build any.  I did make the box, but I am lucky enough to have access to some rough cut lumber and a wood…"

You're find with +/- 1/16 of an inch fretless.  You can always adjust your position a bit depending on what your ear tells you.  My problem was more drastic.  I printed a fret scale off a link found here and didn't check it for scaling.  I had planned my bridge and nut positions, locked everything in, then started burning the fret marks.  Only after playing and not liking the sound did I find the error.  My 12th fret is about a fret and a half out of position.  For my second guitar I put the neck next to my Fender guitar and duplicated the positions.

Thanks for the invite.  Have fun with the builds.  I think you will enjoy EBE.  My first guitar is also tuned Ebe with only one wound string.  It is a really cool sound, but I monkeyed up the fret marks so I'm adding a fingerboard to correct that.
