Bass git fret question

Started this discussion. Last reply by Grandpa Aug 28. 13 Replies

I am starting a cigar box bass project. 3 string, 30" scale. I was planning on using jumbo fret wire, but thought I'd ask what other builder's have had success with. Or, perhaps more important, what…Continue

Grandpa replied to Lane Martin's discussion Repurposing an old piano
"I think the best repurposing of a piano I ever saw was when a safe, or a guy, or some other large object crushed a piano, and Harpo would emerge with the sound board, upright it, and play a harp tune. Youngsters might never have seen it, but the old…"

Jamie replied to Grandpa's discussion Bass git fret question

"Cool. Go for it. You've built a good bit of stuff, so you obviously know the process, and getting some bigger, better tools helped me. I started my building with a circular saw and a 3/8" drill, and the usual home toolbox stuff. As my tool…"

Grandpa replied to Sean's discussion Anyone belong to a Makerspace etc?
"Sean, I don't belong to a builder's collective, but have read in these forums (I think) and elsewhere about them. I think the concept is great for folks who don't have a work space or tools needed to build gits, though they can be…"

Hey, old gramps.  If I realized we were not already CBN friends -  I would have asked you.  Anyway, I like your builds and pics and it is good to have you for a CBN friend.

Nice to hear from you Grandpa, hooked is an under statement I feel like a pike on a spinner.
In the process of building an amp, I hope with a difference, we shall see, however I'm looking for a project that will take a while and a lot of planning, tlc and all that, so it's has to be a steel lap ukulele, got some nice oak and mahogany fouled in the shed.
Watch this space,
Take care,
Ken
