"Yes Nobby. Excellent suggestion. GDgb tuning gives you tones 1513 from the G major scale. A great way to extend 3 string CBG tuning: GDg 151 tuning onto a four string CBG. GDg tuning: http://youtu.be/aGX3bWHSHt0 There are limitless ways to…"

"+1 for the four-in-a-row from a pack of six. you can also get open G tuning using the A-D-G-B strings, and drop the A down to a G to give you G-D-G-B. I found this an easy step from a three string tuned G-D-G, but on matters of CBG I defer to…"

Clock The Wolf replied to George Sales's discussion what strings for a four string cbg?
"Look at the 6 strings from a set of medium gauge strings. acoustic or electric... heck, they can be classical nylon. If you want a lighter sound, go with 3 to 6. If you want a heavier sound, go with 1 to 4. Want more of a light to heavy spread? Go…"

SmokeBoxBlues replied to George Sales's discussion 6 string truss rod
"I agree with Jeff!... 50's style, as fat as a baseball bat... as a Harmony Stratotone H-44. I'm also considering to build a six string neck without truss rod... I got two 5 strings necks (european oak) into two CBGs, for almost two…"

The Phrygian Kid replied to George Sales's discussion 6 string truss rod
"No you do not need one, just shorten the scale a couple inches, laminate your neck and keep it a nice chunky 50s profile and you should have no problems. Use good quarter sawn hardwood."
