I'm fairly new to this, so hi!

Hi I'm David and I recently finished my first build, I had a few problems with it but I won't go into detail as I have already done that on the forums! "My dad has made a new head stock and has glued it onto the neck, and I like the idea of brass eye screws as string trees! Thanks for the advice! I am putting up a picture of the unfinished headstock soon"

Set the face of the headstock well down from the level of the fingerboard as on the first photo.

You could retrieve the neck by grafting on a new headstock.The second photo has a headstock grafted on with screw in brass eyes to hold the strings down.

Use a 'three square' (triangular) needle file to make the nut grooves then you dont need to worry if the string fits.
