To use the shop you have to register for the session, $63. You'll likely want to wait until the next session, which starts up in March. They won't prorate your fees.

Just check youtube for advice on applying stain -- be sure to put on lots, let it sit for 20 min or so and rub off as much as you can with a soft cloth. Let sit overnight in a warm but not hot place and buff it with a piece of paper bag in the AM. Do it again the next day until you get the color you like. That's for oil stain.

Hey, Ben! Join the Horner Park woodcraft program. Open shop on Mon, Wed and Fri from 6:30 to 9:30. They've got all the tools you could want, all you have to do bring your own materials. I build there all the time. I don't have much of a shop, either so that's where I do my big work. Jim, the instructor, is a great help, too. He's built electric, acoustic and a few CBGs, too.
