The Duck

Paddle box guitar. All cherry body, wenge fingerboard and bridge, 25-1/2" chromatic scale. Duck shaped headstock and soundhole. Carved "wing" bridge. Tuned GDg.

Hal, i like the wipe on poly varnish. I use min wax. 5 or so coats. I'll brush on the first coat and sand between coats. I use a paper towel to apply the wipe on coats. I like the semi gloss. I've use this on all my builds so far and on many ukuleles before building guitars.

Thanks for all the positive comments, guys. She projects very well, great sound both acoustically and amp'ed. If I knew I wouldn't make a fool of myself, I'd try to post a sound clip. I'm using .016, .024, & .032 D'Addario nickel wound strings which are very bright, yet the .032 gives me good bass, probably because the volume of the box is greater than most of my cigar boxes. A slight buzz on the G string at the 13th fret, so I have some fine tuning leveling to do. BTW, I used a wipe-on poly for the finish for the first time. I like the way it rubs out. May put a few more coats on it.

Looks great! NIce lines. Fancy sound hole. How does she sound? Will have to check your photos to see if you have a shot of the headstock.
