Rob, yes I did use a coping saw to make this one and my second CBG. I have switched to an electric saber saw, I can get just as clean a cut in much less time. The hardest part with the coping saw is clamping the lid to the table or bench so I can use both hands to saw with.

The tailpiece was a raingutter bracket, It was a nice u channel that I cut a piece out of, then bent it in half as shown, drilled a few holes and voila.
