All done but for the knobs, volume and tone. I've done something wrong in my wiring, but i don't see it. The volume pot only has one volume (full) but the tone pot works! Ta ta... I used a different wiring diagram with clear illustration, but still chasing my tail. Perhaps you guys can steer me right. She sounds real good in spite of my ignorance.

Comment by Dave Lynas on July 5, 2012 at 11:08pm Forgot to tell you all, I just got a nice piece in the mail today. It's an Oahu lap steel from the 50s. Mother of toilet seat yellow/greenish. She sounds THE Best Yet! For me, i think this is the tops i can afford without selling all my other instruments. The Fenders and Gibsons and Ricks are too rich for me. I got lucky on the Oahu..! I'll show you when the sun shines.
Comment by Dave Lynas on July 5, 2012 at 11:03pm Thanks you guys, this makes me feel good. I've just been editing and starting the graphics for our second CD from "The Procrastinators", my band. I just got the mastered copy from my recordist Bill Taylor. It sounds good to me. Wish there was a way to offer some of it up for you to listen to. There doesn't seem to be any provision for recordings without video. Is that so?

Comment by Uncle John on July 5, 2012 at 9:10pm You did it! Looks like a player and a show piece.
Comment by Suspect Device on July 5, 2012 at 8:07am I've been watching this project come together. The end result looks fantastic. Now I wanna build a lap steel. Very nice job Dave.

Comment by Dave Lynas on July 5, 2012 at 12:19am Hey Crimson, yup airbrush, and building this one has been lots of fun. Boy she sounds good too. I'd highly recommend building a lap steel. It's just one big plank cut into shape. Easy shapes at that. hollow out a pocket, make a plate, mark the frets somehow (the airbrush was easy) and add strings.
Comment by Dave Lynas on July 5, 2012 at 12:15am Hi Hippy, I think i see my problem. My comment to Seaman spells it out. A very easy fix if i see right. I'm glad I made a photo of the wiring so i don't have to open her up just to look. I've eliminated the volume pot by connecting the jack hot lead to the hot lead coming from my pup. I should have used the center terminal for the jack hot lead which would make the current go through the pot. I shouldn't do wiring before breakfast or when it's 90 degrees in my kitchen.
Comment by Hippy Chip's guitars on July 4, 2012 at 10:03pm I am leaning toward a defective pot---and that is the easiest fix, so try that first!
